Is your Wall Cladding Safe?
ACP – Aluminium Composite Cladding – Assessment & Investigation Service
Wall cladding could be a potential fire hazard. After Melbourne’s Lacrosse building fire in 2014, ICPS Australia and the Queensland University of Technology’s Science and Engineering Faculty joined forces to provide a professional, independent aluminium composite panel (ACP) cladding assessment and building investigation service.
ICPS provides a building investigation service that includes technical advice, fire audits and a building investigation to assist in the mitigation of any adverse exposure from the ACP wall, whose core material(s) is deemed combustible.
ACP Cladding Assessment & Investigation Process
ICPS Australia’s service comprises three stages.
1) ICPS will perform physical inspection of the premises and collect samples for testing.
2) The second stage is QUT Sample testing. ICPS will test a small sample of ACP cladding from the building to determine the composition of its core material for combustibility. Lastly, ICPS ACP wall cladding report on combustibility.
3) ICPS Australia’s reporting process is to inform clients of the levels of combustibility identified in the test and a pathway for action
If there is combustible ACP, ICPS Australia can implement a building investigation service that comprises a graduated menu of fire safety advice, fire engineer audits, and recommendations on suitable mitigation or remedial action.
Insurers, Building owners, Strata Managers and Body Corporate s and Owners Corporations may also seek assessments of existing and newly constructed strata buildings to determine if your cladding meets Australian standards.
ICPS Strategic partners who help the success of ICPS Australia’s services are Queensland University of Technology (QUT), School of Chemistry, Physics, and Mechanical Engineering; Science and Engineering Faculty – research and product testing. FERM Engineering – Fire engineering solutions.
